Also, as smoking will be prohibited in many public spaces by the end of the year due to local laws in Dubai, the demand for non-smoking areas continues to rise with new information on the hazards of secondary smoke being released ever so often. The famous Spice Island Restaurant at the Renaissance Dubai Hotel won the What’s On Awards 2007 in the category “Favourite International Speciality Restaurant”

The Renaissance Dubai Hotel is continuing its winning streak and won yet another prize at the 6 th Annual What’s On Awards – the biggest and best barometer of public opinion on the UAE’s restaurant and entertainment scene – the Oscar’s of Dubai! Saeid Heidari, Director of Operations accepted the award along with Bruce Andrade, Restaurant Manager of Spice Island and Andreas Kurfurst, Executive Chef of the hotel.

Spice Island was successful in the category Favourite International Speciality Restaurant and was additionally nominated for the General Manager’s Recommendation. It was the second time for Restaurant Manager Bruce Andrade and his Spice Island team to achieve the prestigious award after 2002 and several finalist nominations in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

And that’s not all…

Sails Restaurant, the Mediterranean all day dining hot spot, was voted runner up in the category Favourite European Speciality Restaurant.

The ceremony was aired live on Emirates Radio 2 and the winning Renaissance team had to give their first live interview on the red carpet just after receiving the most sought award. It was an unforgettable moment and the celebrations continued with a cake cutting get together for all associates at the hotel
